What does this do?
Makes a chosen background color in your image transparent. Best on product photos against a clean studio background, screenshots with a solid color behind the subject, or any image where the background is roughly one consistent color.
How is this different from AI background removal?
This is the classic "chroma key" approach — fast, deterministic, and works entirely in your browser with no large model download. It's great for clean backgrounds but won't separate a person from a busy outdoor scene. For that, you need a neural network (and the multi-hundred-megabyte model that comes with it).
How do I get clean edges?
Bump tolerance until the background drops away. Then bump feather a little to soften the cutoff, which hides aliased edges and JPEG compression noise on the subject's silhouette.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything happens client-side — the export is a fresh PNG with alpha.
